Blackwater Lodge Mackenzie Trail Lodge

Testimonials

"Overall the experience was first-class. Also, the weather couldn't have been better - another bonus. The staff was excellent. Our cabin was comfortable and well maintained. Obviously someone who spends all one's nights away from home at the Ritz might find it difficult, but we loved it. The wood stove on a chilly evening was great. The guides put us in the right places with the right advice. The 22 incher I caught in the upper river was a high point in my 50-year plus fly fishing career - especially with the 18 and 19 inch fish caught the same day. The flyout including the river drift in pontoon boats is an especially fun experience. Keep up the good work."
Tom Carstensen, guest 2002

"I could not imagine a more delightful way to spend a week. Each day was a pure joy!" Kirk Bewley, Guest 2002

"All of your guides and camp staff were excellent. (Flight to lodge, cleanliness of accommodations, quality of meals, float planes, support staff, quality of the fishing and wilderness experience all excellent)."
John Colwell, guest 2002.

"MacKenzie Trail Lodge is a wonderful wilderness experience."
Steve Addi, guest 2002

"Being with you for a week was a most pleasurable and satisfying experience. To spend time with my three sons in beautiful settings in a remote, uncrowded part of the world filling our days with great fishing, our evening with camaraderie, laughs, good food and wine makes for a wonderful adventure. Life can't get any better."
Ross Bewley, guest 2002

"We fished the Blackwater River coming in and out of the lake, a couple of hike-in lakes and Tsacha itself. Fishing was good and we limited early so we could have our catch smoked, so it was catch and release the last two days."
Ken Wilson, Team BCAdventure guest 2001

"I don't think there's a better dry fly fishing experience in the world".
Mike Cameron, guest 2000

“I just got back from a trip to MacKenzie Trail Lodge on Tsacha Lake in NW BC.  I flew in with another friend from work.  We buzzed the lodge and were immediately met at the airstrip by the owner and a guide.  That marked the beginning of a phenomenal trip. We were both complete rookies to fly fishing, and they took that completely in stride.  Even though our package didn’t include guide services, they volunteered their time to get us started.  They were incredibly helpful, supportive and patient.

The food and the service there are both FIVE STAR.  The entire staff is simply amazing – they learned our names immediately, and provided incredible individual attention throughout our entire stay.  We even had guides come by as we were on the river to see if we needed any drinks, flies, or advice.   The accommodations are pretty rustic but very clean.  We actually spent very little time in the cabins. Now for the fishing…  We were on the Blackwater River, which flows into and out of Tsacha Lake.  Olive and orange Stimulators were the ticket.  We caught tons of fish – some of us caught over 100 native rainbows per day.  Heck, I even had the chance to go for a spontaneous swim or two.
J For a mix of service, food, fishing, and stunning scenery, MTL provided a package that’s hard to beat.  While we didn’t add them to our package since we were just beginning, they offer fly-out day trips to a wide selection of rivers and lakes with various fishing opportunities.  I’d recommend them to anyone who wants to get away from everything (including roads) and concentrate on some serious trout fishing.  I know I’ll be going back.”

“The fishing derby was an excellent idea and a lot of fun. The trip to outlying lake with guides was excellent. All the guides are very knowledgeable and fun to be with. I would vacation with this camp crew anywhere. Great pilots."

I apologize for being a little late in writing you a "thank you" note for the great stay I and my 3 sons and our guests had at your magnificent Mackenzie Trail Lodge. We have been there 3 years in a row now, and this year was by far the greatest!
Your service and organization is marvelous. The guides are First Class and the friendly cook couldn't have been more helpful and accommodating. We have already reserved a spot for next year and after you look at the enclosed photographs, you can see how anxious we all are to dip our lines again into your beautiful lake and streams.
I would not hesitate at all to highly recommend you and your staff to anyone that's considering visiting Tsacha Lake. On a scale of 1 to 10, you are a +14!
Again, thanks for everything and we are all looking forward to fishing with you and your guides next year
.
Kindest regards. Very truly yours.
