Herzlich
willkommen!
Dear
Guest:
Thank
you for your interest in MacKenzie Trail Lodge and Blackwater
Lodge. Our lodges are located 1 ¼ hours north of Vancouver in
the heart of B.C. and can be reached only by plane. The lodges
are located on the shore of Tsacha Lake with boat and trail access
to the fabled Blackwater River, renowned for its dry fly rainbow
trout fishing. The season offers a variety of fishing opportunities
for the avid fly and spin angler, from novice to expert.
"Here's
the unvarnished truth: I hooked 100 to 200 fish every day on the
Blackwater. On dry flies. Without even trying."
"What
about the hatches? Well, the word "unbelievable" doesn't even
begin to cover it. At any one moment one could scan the air above
the river, against the dark velvet backdrop of evergreens, and
identify three or four species of caddisflies; stoneflies in profusion…mayflies
galore, and both Green and Sulphur Drakes, which climbed slowly
into the sky, laboriously aflutter like Day-Glo moths"
"One
thing is for certain: Blackwater trout are beautifully proportioned,
unblemished and exceptionally vigorous. They seem to glow with
inner light quintessential in wild salmonids. These robust but
sparingly packaged critters are nearly perfect opponents on 2-
to 4- weight rods. A trip to the Blackwater is an opportunity
that should not be passed up." Don Roberts, Northwest Fly Fishing:

Our
lodges, under new ownership and management since the 2001 season
have operated on Tsacha Lake for over 30 years and are unique
in that they offer a truly pristine wilderness experience in a
remote location with full service accommodations. We are avid
conservationists, committed to the preservation of all wildlife
in the area. While fishing on a typical day, you can see bald
eagles circling and even diving for their catch. A moose is apt
to swim across the lake and the famous loon lives among us. Their
beautiful music compliments the secluded, untouched scenery that
is yours to behold.
Our
cozy, private, rustic cabins - many with bathrooms - are randomly
spaced for the utmost in privacy or companionship, whichever you
prefer. Our gourmet meals have a home-style atmosphere as they
are served in the lodge to allow for the exchanging of "fish stories"
or just socializing. Following supper is the traditional bonfire
and/or sauna for the evening folk. There are a number of other
forms of recreation available such as fly-tying, horseshoes, hiking,
canoeing, table games, etc.
Let
us help you and your friends plan your memorable fishing get-away
to our lodge.
You may contact us at (800) 615-3713 or by e-mail at mactraillodge@aol.com.
We
look forward to seeing you at MacKenzie Trail or Blackwater Lodge
in the near future.
Sincerely,
Cary
